Gond paintings are a form of painting from folk and tribal art that is practiced by one of the largest tribes in India with whom it shares its name. Originally painted as symbols of good fortune on the walls of Gond tribe dwellings, this fabulous art-form has now found a uniquely contemporary expression in brilliant poster colours on cotton cloth. The paintings are an offering in worship of nature, and are also a mode of seeking protection against the evil.
